Rhiannon is a moon Goddess mainly, also a protector of children and women, a warrior, a Horse Goddess and often takes on the form of a white rabbit. Very old tradition tells that a image of her should be worn about the throat by a woman getting married so that she not be mistreated by her husband, her children be born safely and be safe from harm.

When St. Patrick first came to Dublin, the daughter of the local king had just drowned in the river that divided the village in half. The king told St. Patrick that he would become a Christian if the holy man restored his daughter to life. St Patrick prayed over the river and the princess lived. Her name was Leife and the river was thereafter called Leife's river or, as it is known today, the Liffey.
